TelStar's 50s Rock 'n' Roll

On air: Fridays 6-8pm

I was a 50s teenager, influenced by early Elvis and skiffle; but my love of rock 'n' roll really began in the late 40s and early 50s with jump, swing and fun music on 78rpm discs played on my Grandma’s ‘radiogram’. I started collecting records and got involved with the 60s scene and bands at college dances, where I learned to play drums, eventually joining the Loughborough based 'Moonstones' band between 1972-83.

After studying Art & Design in Leicester and Birmingham, I taught in Nottinghamshire, Southend, Derbyshire, and at De Montfort University.

Now retired, I spend time on rock ‘n’ roll, painting, photography, drama at Leicester Little Theatre and walking. No time to be bored!
