About Us
Hermitage FM was launched in 2009 from our first home in Hotel Street, Coalville. It was born from an idea of the trustees of Carillon Radio - the hospital radio station for Loughborough and Charnwood - who saw a need for an expanded radio service and community hub for North West Leicestershire. As part of Carillon Broadcasting, we are a registered charity (no.1105151).
In 2014, we outgrew our original premises and moved to Memorial Square, right in the centre of Coalville.
We aim to provide entertaining and informative radio for local people, as well as providing free training in broadcasting and radio production.
We are the only Community Radio Station in the UK to operate a social enterprise Community Coffee Lounge. Here, we provide volunteering, work experience and training opportunities for adults and young people - many of whom have learning difficulties, disabilities or mental health issues. We hope to empower individuals by raising confidence and self-esteem, developing skills and investing trust, as well as combatting unemployment and social exclusion in our community.
If you would like to get involved in the future of broadcasting in North West Leicestershire, as well as putting something back into your community, please get in touch.
